I almost thought this might pas into the realm of a 'B-movie' type game, so bad its good, but no, it passes through that stage and back out the otherside into the terrible. The graphics look ps2 at best, the character movement is wooden, the in game cinematics are laughable. Thats clearly where the budget went as after its over it allllll goes downhill. When you start the game you will be treated to a very spectacular looking Cinematic FMV. I got this on rental, and even I felt cheated that it probably cost me a few quid for the 2 days I had it. It was clear they wanted to usher this out before anyone caught wind of how terrible it was and some poor suckers paid cash for it on a whim. I havnt played a game this bad in a long, long time.Īlarm bells were ringing when it got relased with no advertising campaign, noone had heard of it and there wasnt even a review on IGN. If you like sci-fi action games and are not so picky, you might enjoy this as well. The combat gameplay was enjoyable and even unique in some aspects. I like trippy sci-fi stories like this, with mutants and such. The concept and storyline made this game stand out to me. My playthrough of the campaign took 9-10 hours. The enemy designs were quite original, they did something different in this game. So you can have two very different combat experience here, either a shooter or a Prototype/Dark Sector-like melee thing. You get some pretty cool abilities to upgrade: absorbing health from enemies, super vision, energy shield, slow-mo effect etc. That you can choose one of two approaches is a unique aspect of the game: alien mutant vs super-human. Here, the earth gets invaded by insect-like aliens and you find yourself fighting through Moscow. The premise of this game was too awesome for me to ignore since I really like sci-fi, especially the earth-invasion theme. If you are a reasonably intelligent person you would not expect AAA quality.Īs expected it lacks overall polish in graphics and mechanics.but nothing that ruins the game by any means. The game was released at a "budget price" for a reason. The game is quite short and there's no option to start a new game again with a fully tanked up character (awwww) but considering it can be picked up very cheap, it's well worth the money. It has some pretty hilarious AI, an example being on the final boss (he's gigantic btw) one of my AI companions shouts "I've lost sight of the enemy!" - he's right in front of you!!!. It has some flaws though, for example on the Hive level the game is plagued by insane framerate issues. The graphics - which were not liked by the critics - are quite nice with good lighting effects and great physics. You start off weak but get progressively more powerful - which kept my interest till the end. To start off with you only have a wrench and a gun and that's pretty much it, but by the end of the game you become near indestructible with a plasma cannon on one arm, claws, shields and the ability to take over enemies to make them fight for you. It plays somewhat like "The Suffering" - or at least feels like it. Expecting an underwhelming generic shooter, I was actually surprised to find a pretty rewarding game. Using human weapons and new deadly abilities you will cut through hordes of aliens to acquire a cure for this mutation, and recover lost memories.Īfter hearing so much bad things about this budget title I was intrigued enough to see if such claims were true. Desperate to uncover the truth behind your genetic mutations, you battle the aliens while slowly losing your humanity. You take control of an infected soldier fighting his way through the alien infestation that has overrun the planet. MorphX is an action packed Third Person Shooter, telling the story of mankind’s struggle for survival in a city infested with aliens. Boss battles will feature building-sized adversaries that will require as much wit as physical dexterity to overcome and emerge victorious. Played from a 3rd person perspective, the events of MorphX unfold in a fully realised 3D representation of the Russian capital, where players must fight through a demolished Red Square and on the steps of a battle scarred Kremlin. As well as guns, grenades and other more traditional weaponry, players will be able to absorb the DNA of fallen enemies to assimilate superior alien abilities and technologies, at the cost of their humanity. In a world where humans are forced to scurry in the ruined subways and sewers of a futuristic Moscow devastated by attempted alien genocide, MorphX tells the story of the human resistance against their newly imposed masters.
